Hempel Silic One is an advanced, biocide-free anti-fouling paint based on silicone and hydrogel. The unique fouling release technology creates a hydrogel micro-layer with extremely low friction, making it almost impossible for algae and mussels to adhere. When the boat is in motion, the water flow keeps the hull clean. The low water resistance provides noticeable benefits: higher top speed and reduced fuel consumption. Silic One has an expected service life of up to 2 years on the hull and is suitable for boats made of fiberglass, steel, aluminum and plywood. Important: The product works only as part of a complete system and requires the correct build-up.

System build-up: How to ensure adhesion 

For the Silic One system to work, the layers must be applied in the correct order. Tiecoat is the "glue" that holds everything together: 

1. Primer: On bare surfaces, apply Hempel Light Primer (min. 2 coats). 

2. Tiecoat (Intermediate coat): Apply 1 coat of Hempel Silic One Tiecoat. This is crucial so the anti-fouling paint does not release. 

3. Topcoat: Apply 2 coats of Silic One anti-fouling paint. The 1st coat must be applied while your Tiecoat is still tacky.
