Hempel Silic One is an advanced, biocide-free antifouling paint based on silicone and hydrogel. The unique fouling release technology creates a hydrogel micro-layer with extremely low friction, making it almost impossible for algae and mussels to attach. When the boat is in motion, the water flow helps keep the hull clean. The low water resistance offers noticeable benefits: higher top speed and reduced fuel consumption. Silic One has an expected lifespan of up to 2 years on the hull and is suitable for boats in fiberglass, steel, aluminum, and plywood. Important: The product works only as part of a complete system and requires the correct build-up.

System build-up: How to ensure adhesion 

For the Silic One system to work, the layers must be applied in the correct order. Tiecoat is the "glue" that holds it all together: 

1. Primer: On bare surfaces, apply Hempel Light Primer (min. 2 coats). 

2. Tiecoat (Intermediate layer): Apply 1 coat of Hempel Silic One Tiecoat. This is crucial so the antifouling does not peel off. 

3. Topcoat: Apply 2 coats of Silic One antifouling paint. The first coat must be applied while your Tiecoat is still tacky.
