Hempel Silic One Tiecoat is an advanced, silicone-based adhesion primer with a high solids content, specifically developed for the Hempel Silic One system. This intermediate coat acts as the vital "glue" that ensures optimal adhesion between your primer and the final Silic One bottom paint. By creating a chemical bridge between the layers, Tiecoat is an indispensable part of the build-up to achieve maximum durability and the full effect of the biocide-free fouling release technology. The system is suitable for boats in fiberglass, steel, aluminum, and plywood below the waterline.

System build-up: How to ensure adhesion To achieve a successful result, the coats must be applied in the correct order and within the specified time intervals:

1. Priming: On bare surfaces, apply Hempel Light Primer.

2. Tiecoat (Intermediate coat): Apply 1 coat of Silic One Tiecoat over the dry primer.

3. Topcoat: Apply Hempel Silic One bottom paint. The first coat must be applied while your Tiecoat is still "tacky to the touch".
