INSTALLATION OF HEATERS:

  • Diesel heaters “rumble” a little, so they should be placed in the stern/locker/engine room so the noise is not heard in the cabin (apart from a little air noise).
  • The exhaust gas is routed into a “gooseneck” up under the deck and then out through the side/stern.
  • Fresh, oxygen-rich air is heated and led into the cabin(s) through air ducts.
  • Air recirculation = repeated heating of warm air is not recommended.
  • Fresh air is easier to “heat” than recirculated air.
  • The space in which the heater is installed must be well ventilated with sufficient “cold” fresh-air supply.
  • The heater’s combustion air must either be routed to an open vent or taken from outside (called balanced exhaust).
  • Experience shows that the heater itself is “only” about 50%. The marine accessories and the installation itself make up at least 50% of the final result.
